“Today I give thanks for it all,
Though I do not understand much of what I see,
I surrender anyway….
I trust in the Goodness of Life,
I open to the One that breathes me,
To the One who has given me one more day
To feel so alive and free”

Praying for Peace

As I write this in the wee dark hours of my Christian Good Friday, I pray for peace in the whole of our world. Terrorism has affected us again this week. I can barely turn on the television without watching images of mass destruction among yesterday’s normalcy. Camera shots blanket human remains. Jagged lines together with dotted speckles of bright red blood splatter against dusty walls and powdered floors almost as if in an abstract painting. “How can this possibly be,” I ask? “Where did the world go wrong?”

As a mother, my thoughts are with Mary, who witnessed the horror of her only begotten son as he was crucified on Good Friday. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crucifixion_of_Jesus

Whatever your beliefs, I ask you to join me in prayer to put an end to terrorism in our world. Let there be peace among all living people. Everyone deserves a chance to grow old, to live life, to love and be loved. How I wish to pass my television to catch a glimpse of families, happy and playing with children, simply enjoying life. Yes, a human interest story. Remember them? When was the last time you saw one without the hint of terror or war behind it?

Please God, allow people to live freely. Let them walk across streets to visit friends or family. To travel through airports, ride on a bus, or simply have a picnic in a park without worry of a bomb going off. Give our children the freedom to go to school without fear, watch a movie, run a race or sing a song. Please feed our hungry, clothe our naked and house our poor.

Let nature together with  all that is good thrive among the human race once again. Please, God, let there be peace in the world.

Amen

Wishing You and Yours a Peaceful Easter Holiday

Thank you Lord for giving me

The brand new year ahead

Help me live the way I should

As each new day I tread.

Give me gentle wisdom

That I might help a friend

Give me strength and courage

So a shoulder I might lend.

The year ahead is empty

Help me fill it with good things

Each new day filled with joy

And the happiness it brings.

Please give the leaders of our world

A courage born of peace

That they might lead us gently

And all the fighting cease.

Please give to all upon this earth

A heart that’s filled with love

A gentle happy way to live

With Your blessings from above.

Heaven’s Angel

Once a tiny seed, a speck, a fleck

Barely fluttering heart so near

Inside my chest.

Love internal soon to grow

Every second

Hour and minute.

Weeks go by

Turning months

Nearly a year

Soon you’ll be here.

Yes, I feel you deep within

Loving you more

Fluttering like before.

Bigger now, the whole of my heart

Close my eyes to dream

Of butterflies beautiful

Imagined, not yet seen.

Soon to be born

Cradle until you fly.

A gush, a splash

Astounding love envelopes me

Baby born, now you’re here

Skin to skin upon my chest

Pink and perfect

Suckle and cry

Tip-toe peeking while you sleep

Mine to keep.

Bursting heart with love to share

Holding you till the end of time

Rolling over, sitting up, grasping toys and giggling too.

First tooth, big smile and curly locks

Cuddling, kissing, wooden chair while daddy rocks.

Dreams of a lifetime snatched forever

Without warning, halting, stopping.

Half a year is not enough

I cry and shake and ask God, “Why?”

Clutching you, tiny fingers too

Nighttime crib, flannel sleeper, little life

My heart is broken, shattered glass

Pieces and shards, strewn over the blanket of life.

Devastation

No greater loss

Crying…wailing…weeping.

What to do, where to go, can’t survive without my child.

My heart has spilled, its empty now

Feeling nothing dark and dead.

Help me God, to understand

Dry my tears, give me strength

Pass the courage today and every tomorrow.

My babe is an angel that I know

Fluttering now outside my chest

She has her wings

Of a golden hue

Butterfly beautiful indeed

The tiny seed

Once a speck

Invisible fleck held so dear.

Needed in Heaven or so I’m told.

Take my hand to pray with me

Rock my baby night and day

A gift to me forever you see

Kiss her gently, love her too

Till I can join her next to You.

Marriage Blessing

My heart is filled with love for my youngest son on this, his wedding weekend.  It spills with joy to know that soon, he will clasp the delicate hands of his beautiful bride to recite hand-written vows in blue on white.  Holding her small in the large of his own, loving glances will dart until magic words are said.  “I Do.”

Not long ago, I penned of him, praying God would bring answers to questions of a life drifting here and there.  A mother knows when her son struggles to find that certain something http://wp.me/p41md8-X9.  So ironic it is to read what I wrote of that day.  How could I possibly know that God’s plan was already in place?

A few days after the above, a new career began for this son of mine.  Even he did not expect his whole life to change…. While in training, his special one caught his eye.  She, so beautiful with pools of blue and hair of gold. Kind too, with a heart and spirit to match my son.  She is good for him and he for her.  A friendship began with love in the air.  Her family became his and hers became ours.  Such a blessing it has been for each and every one of us!

Sure to become teary-eyed while listening to my son’s wedding vows, I could not be more at peace than I am on this day.  He has an enormous gift in his bride together with his new family, one that he waited for until God decided, “It was time.”

May God bless the marriage of my youngest son together with his new wife.  I pray they live with Health, Love, Trust, Fidelity, Friendship and Support for one another as long as they both shall live.

~Amen~
