Memories are made of this.. 1969 Peter Sarstedt, Bad Moon Rising and Moon Landings

Sally’s lovely memories…Thanks to her many of my own have been released from that great year.  What do you remember?

Smorgasbord - Variety is the spice of life

It is 1969 and Apollo 11 was the spaceflight that landed the first humans on the Moon, Americans Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin, on July 20, at 20:18 UTC. Neil Armstrong became the first man to step onto the lunar surface six hours later on July 21 at 02:56 UTC.  “That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.”

That was the year I was 16 and about to take some small steps that were to be a giant leap for womankind… Well me anyway… Still at school but what was to be my final year. 1. 1969, my brother had gone off to college and I was an only child making my way through 9th grade. Creedance for sure, and the Stones and lots of other music. Thanks for bringing this one to us Kim.

  2. I was at school in southern India, in the 9th standard of my Senior Cambridge curriculum. Hence not so big enough to befriend a girl of Sally’s stature and drive around town. That started happening only a couple of years later…lol.. Like everyone else, I was also on a steady diet of classic westerns, such as, mackenna’s gold, for a few dollars more, the good, the bad, and ugly, butch Cassidy.., in addition to those visually extravagant David Lean movies. Also, lived the worldwide euphoria on successful moon mission of Apollo 11, and Neil Armstrong creating history. Thanks for the reblog, Kim, as Sally seems to be an interesting person…best wishes… Raj.
